Fishing Black Bear Island Lodge in Saskatchewan Canada, Churchill River System

Even after 13 years, going to Black Bear Island Lodge never gets old. There are so many amazing and fun things to do that there is no way for you to not love it. I can be a big city girl with ease, so coming from me, to say you can't get bored, with no cell service and hardly any internet… That's saying a lot.
I work six months out of the year there and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
In the mornings I bring coffee to the cabins at 6:30am while my father (owner and operator of Black Bear Island Lodge) DJ Enns tends to the boiler to make sure you have hot showers, and while my mother Dawn Enns starts cooking breakfast. With breakfast starting at seven, you have a short thirty minutes to get showered, drink coffee and enjoy the beautiful sunrise from your lake view cabin.
After breakfast around eight your native guides will be waiting on the dock ready to take you on your adventure for the day. While on the lake fishing for walleye and pike you can either stay near or go far to see the beautiful scenery that the Churchill River has to offer.
At around noon you'll be getting ready for shore lunch! While your guides prepare your shore lunch you can still fish, or just sit back and relax, whatever tickles your fancy. As the yummy aromas of the fish, potatoes, onions and spices fill the air while looking out at Gods impeccable creation, it's hard not to sit back and realize, this really is a little bit of heaven.
After eating as much as your heart desires of the fish you caught earlier that day, it's back to the boats until 6:30pm. Once you get back from your exhausting day of pulling in the big ones (when you're catching fish as big as ours, it gets a little tiring) you can relax, enjoy a cigar, and reminisce with friends over your trophy fish from that day.
At 7 O'clock supper is ready to be served by yours truly. Whether it's steak, prime rib, lasagna, or cornish hens served with fresh warm homemade bread, your mouth will be watering from the amazing aromas coming from the kitchen, to your very own place at the table. When you think it can't get any better than this, dessert is served.
After dessert you can feel free to sit back and relax in the main lodge until your beers are empty, or eyes are sleepy. Walking back to your cabin you can't help but smile knowing that this day is on repeat for the remainder of your time at the one and only Black Bear Island Lodge. This truly is the ultimate fishing experience in Saskatchewan, Canada on the Churchill River. - Cortney Enns
